Well this is an unexpected event that most of us weren’t ready or prepared to undertake. The good news is that through sports we have all learned how to overcome and adapt to unforeseen events. We experience it with injuries, weather, turnovers, etc… so we are well versed to handle this new barrier. It’s how we approach it and how we respond that will make our 2020 team stronger. There is a lot of unanswered questions and unknowns the next week or longer. I’m not sure how it will all play out but I do know that we will all return back to normal activities and routines at some point. We should view this as an opportunity to practice a championship mindset. It will be real easy to default into “vacation” mode and let time slip away and develop bad habits that will eventually affect our entire TEAM and program. This is a great opportunity to set ourselves apart from our opponents and to do the things most people will not do in these situations. This is a time to practice self-discipline and to continue to grow and improve each day. We are still in our offseason phase and that shouldn’t stop just because a new barrier has been formed. We all need to have the mindset and commitment to build a bridge over this barrier. That will require intentional and proper choices while we are at home. Our coaching staff is committed to help each player in our program continue to develop. We will send out tweets each day for at home workouts and challenges to keep all our players engaged. Please talk to your sons about staying focused and to keep our “offseason” going. This will provide our TEAM a huge advantage over our opponents. Ask them all to remember our creed. Most of them have memorized it and stood in front of our team to recite it. Remind them from our creed it says: “ We understand that winning can only be achieved through our hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.” Now is the perfect time to practice that. I will continue to update information and will send out additional emails if I get new information. Until then check twitter, stay safe, and as always Go Knights!
Reminder: All KISD facilities are closed and no students are allowed on campus inside or outside per KISD administration. Make sure your athletes know that they can’t be anywhere on campus, especially the turf area. We must abide by their requests and restrictions during this closure. Thanks for your help.
Please check these daily for helpful information.
